Eisco Garage Physics Trigonometry Exploration Puzzle Set
- Why can't we learn mathematics with our hands and our brains?! This block kit puts trigonometry directly in your hands. Sine, Cosine, Tangent, and the other trig functions take physical form and become real. Students can explore, with their own hands, the definition of the radian unit of angular measurement and even come up with their own approximation of Pi.
- The material is high quality precision-cut Birch verner pure bond plywood.
- No assembly required.
- Kit comes with a step-by-step educational guide.
- Includes the unit circle, three 30-60-90 triangles, two 45-45-90 triangles, two circular sectors, and Kepler's triangle.
The trigonometric functions are some of the most important and useful tools within STEM fields. They show up from engineering to quantum mechanics and everything in between. This block kit gives physical intuition to this critical STEM tool. Kit includes the unit circle and the ever important 30-60-90 and 45-45-90 triangles. The included pedagogy walks students through the definition of all six trigonometric functions, and uses the properties of similar triangles and the Pythagorean theorem to help students establish the critical relationships between them. Also included are 1 radian and 2 radian circular sectors. These allow students to explore the definition of the radian unit of angular measurement with their hands. Then can then use these tools to come up with their very own approximation of Pi. Finally, Kepler's triangle (which is related to the Fibonacci sequence) provides a vehicle to test one's understanding since the trig functions of its angles can all be expressed in terms of the golden ratio.
