- Oligoclase sample approximately 1" (3cm) in size
- Standard hardness of 6, exhibits two planes of cleavage
- Perfect size for use in classroom identification labs and exercises, correlates well to Next Generation Science Standards Evidence Statements
- Feldspar with high levels of sodium
- Specimen comes in clear labeled and barcoded bag for ideal storage
As a plagioclase feldspar, oligoclase is endlessly useful as a tool to teach mineralogy. With a standard hardness of 6 on the Mohs scale, 2 planes of cleavage, and a characteristic nonmetallic luster, feldspar makes for a wonderful example of many mineral physical properties. This 1" sample can be used to great effect in any geology classrooms learning about mineralogy or igneous petrology. It is also a great addition to any identification exercises, especially when paired with an alkali feldspar. Each sample is approximately 1" long and comes in a labeled plastic bag.
